We try to do things a little differently here
Let me explain a bit
We Raise Shih Tzus Because We Love Them!
I know that buying a puppy for most people is a very time consuming, emotional event. You do the research, look at web sites, call breeders, check out advertising and ask around for references and that is just the beginning. We understand all this, because once upon a time, we were puppy buyers too. We want to make the process as easy as possible. That's where I hope, we do things a little differently here.
I want you to feel confident in your decision to buy from us. I won't pressure you to make a decision, in fact, if you are unsure about whether or not to purchase, my advice is to wait a little bit, and then decide. You are welcome to come and visit us (please call for an appointment) . I will be happy to provide you with references from families who have purchased a puppy from us or references from our veterinarian.
I encourage people to get all of their questions answered before they make a buying decision. I will be happy to answer your questions by phone at 217-537-3220 or email spaeth@hughes.net--just get in touch with me. The more educated you are about the breed, the more confident you will feel when buying. The more I know about your expectations, the better job I will be able to do helping you to find a pet that matches your criteria.
We Are Selective About the People Who Adopt Our Puppies
As unlikely as it sounds, I have refused to sell puppies to people before. I am not mean by nature, but I do care about where the puppies we raise end up. I will ask you questions about your plans for the puppy you wish to purchase. I want to know, that you are aware of the commitment you are making when you take home one of our puppies. We don't want our babies to end up at a shelter. In fact, I encourage you to keep in touch with us long after you leave here with your puppy. We believe in being just as available to you after you purchase a puppy, as we were to you before we sold you a puppy.
Our Puppies Are Raised in a Loving, Family Environment
This is a business for us, but it is also a passion. We live on a thousand acres in a rural community, and our puppies and adults have plenty of room to play. We have two children, ages 10 and 13 that also help my husband and I raise these loving little fluffy creatures. Our puppies do not lack for attention. They are born in our nursery in our home. We begin training them in our home so that they easily adjust to yours. In fact, we strongly believe that is why our puppies thrive in their new homes. We take the extra time to socialize and love them which gives them a good foundation for becoming loving, well adjusted pets. Our shih tzu moms and dads are well socialized too, and we believe their example and caring transfers to their puppies.
We Give Our Animals Excellent Daily Care, Feed them the High Quality Food made in the USA by Tuffy's Pet Foods. We Go to Great Lengths to Insure their Good Health and Welfare.
We spoil our shih tzus. We exclusively feed Nutri Source small breed puppy and dog food and are very particular about anything else they eat or play with. Our dogs have a daily routine. Someone is here with them most all of the time. They get treats, they play outside, they lay on the couch and they follow us around. They are part of our family. Our shih tzus love their toys, Dingo bones and Greenies. I am always shopping for new toys and good treats to keep their interest.
Our Puppies Are Not the Cheapest Puppies on the Market,
but Purchasing a Quality Puppy is Money Well Spent.
You won't find a bargain basement puppy here. If you are looking for one, and believe me, I understand saving a buck (it comes from my small town upbringing and my over 15 years of being married to a "very thrifty, if we can't pay it in cash we don't need it," wonderful intelligent farmer) you probably won't find one here. Our puppies are not the cheapest on the market, but you can be assured that we have invested lots of time, money and love into their upbringing and care.
My husband briefly considered tossing me out on my ear when I brought my first two shih tzus home (He said they were several $500 dollar bills running around the yard.) He also swore we would never have pets in the house--that is, until they jumped up in his lap and began nuzzling his neck. They snuggled their way into his heart and I don't hear about the expense of "MY" puppies any more. Anyway, we invested money in excellent animals with outstanding bloodlines. Many of our breeders are AKC champion sired and champion damed. One of our studs, Rocky, is an AKC champion. When you purchase one of our puppies, you are purchasing a healthy, quality animal. You are making an investment. We give you a written health guarantee. You new puppy will come to you microchipped, vaccinated, vet checked and thriving--and we will send you home with a small bag of food, treats and toys. All of this will save you money in the long run.
We Look forward to Working With YOU!!!
If you are interested in one of our amazing shih tzus, please give us a call. We truly believe they are a breed above the rest and we enjoy sharing them with so many terrific people across the country and around the world.
